What People Are Asking?

36: POLE BARN DOORS

1

Looking for a bi fold door for an opening approx 28’ wide by 16’ high for the front of my pole barn.

2

New construction 50 x 84 pole barn type construction, building will be fully insulated, so would be interested in a door insulation kit.

3

I am starting to redo an older pole barn with 4x6 posts, 72x36 and 8-9 feet tall. Removing rusting corrugated metal siding, leveling posts one by one and replacing bottom 4 feet of posts with concrete pillars and bolting posts with brackets to cement pillars above ground level. Will install concrete floor as next step. Then double reinforce corner posts, reinforce end rafter, with backing as shown on wood construction recommendations for bifold doors. Hoping to have a final opening of 32'0" and 9' tall, (up to bottom of ceiling rafters) Would like to add custom truss as shown in wood buildings recommendations and install a bifold exterior door that retains the full 9' opening with hinges bolted to a truss located above max opening height. vs pre-build bifold door? ((Using RAMCO panels for new siding and roof, brilliant blue and bright white that I would like to match))

4

Would like pricing for both the hydraulic and bifold door - roughly 32 ft x 14 ft. This is for a door on a pole barn. Would like windows on it. Building will be insulated at a later date.

5

Hi The company I represent is looking at providing clients with bi fold doors for their garage and pole shed. 7

I would like to talk to sales about the cost of door and installation. I need to request money from state and need a rough qt for costs. the building is wooden pole building. the opening of the door in building is apx 50 by 18. I think that the new door probably should have its own frame so as not to rely on existing structure for total support. I would like to talk to sales about some of the specific requirements for my location. phone or email is acceptable thank you JS manager

8

In past got pricing from Julie and Jeremy. Need a price for a 65x18 going into a Cleary Pole Building.

15

Looking for a quote for a 12 ft high by 30-34 ft w opening for the gable end of a wood pole barn gable end 36 ft wide, 13-14 ft tall at the eves, 4/12 pitch roof. 16

18

New 40x64x16 pole barn. Looking for insulated large door instead of conventional. Your doors look interesting. I want to make it easy to get boats, RV ect. In the building.

19

20

Have an existing Pole Barn (36.5 x10’) opening. Would like to talk about adding a door. Can you contact me please. Looking at spring summer of 2023 for install. Russ.

21

I have a 50 x 30 pole barn with sliding side doors on one endwall and one side wall. The approximate opening size on the endwall is 20 ft and height is about 12' I'm not sure if a bifold is reasonable to replace the hanging sliders or not. The barn is pretty standard northern MN construction, poured concrete slab and 6x4 posts 8' on the side walls and 10' on the rear endwall with free spans elsewhere. The side door is somewhat narrower, same height but I haven't measured the door opening. I move tractors in and out in the winter through this door. I am looking for two things: 1 rodent proof, 2 I plan to heat this barn so reasonable air tightness is a concern. Free span is also important. My questions are very approximate idea of cost? Is my structure strong enough to support the weight of a bifold door? How hard is it to install these doors? Would I be better off with a garage door style panel.

22

I am building a new pole barn. I am needing three doors: 35 foot by 18 foot, 30 foot by 18 foot and a 14 foot by 14 foot. Could I get a quote from Schweiss Doors?

Hello, I am looking to get a schweiss quote on a bifold and a hydraulic door for an 18x12 pole barn opening that is a wood building/framing and also any options for the doors that are available and pricing. Thanks Zack

25

Opening on the shop Door is on eave side of building. I need maximum height for shop entrance. the door that needs to be replaced is 13' 11" in height and 19' 5" in width. We have 12" of header clearance above opening on outside of the building. This is a pole barn structure with 6" x 6" treated posts on 8' centers. I would prefer a self contained frame but can mount to building if needed.

26

I have a steel framed pole barn used for storage and I would like to install a insulated 40' door.

27

I have a pole barn type hangar. It has a barn type sliding manual door that is 40ft width by 10ft ht. I’d like to upgrade to an automatic bifold Liftstrap auto latching door preferably one that allows full height and does not add any weight to the building. I suppose a Self supporting Hydraulic door would be my choice. Also I would want professional installation. Thanks

28

Hello. I have a pole building with a 40' pole barn lift strap door opening. The current sliding doors are dragging on the floor and have never sealed at the top, resulting in a terrible bird problem. I have some experience with cable type winches, and would rather have a bifold door with straps like yours. The door opening is a custom design made from I-beams. Would it be possible to have someone come to my site for a quote or can I send photos to explain my request? The building is located near Circleville, Ohio. Thank you, Susan Stevenson

This is a new 40x50 pole barn with 6x6 wood posts set on 10' centers, steel trusses and a concrete pad and apron. It was constructed with a gable roof, so the front (and back) has that gable form. Pole barn construction. What can be considered the header, is a double 2x8 truss. Side column on building is a 2x6 wall, but I can put in any size post as required. I am interested mostly in the do it yourself one piece hydraulic door, but will also consider a bifold strap door.

49

Good afternoon, I have a customer that has one of your bi-fold, cable operated doors currently installed on his pole barn

50

I have a hard time hearing on the phone, but you can text me at that number. I'm looking for prices for two doors. I added the dimensions for the larger bifold strap pole barn door to the form. My shop is a pole barn, wood trusses supported by utility poles with a metal roof. I'd like the top half of the bifold door to be skinned in polycarbonate to let in natural light, the bottom in R-Panel. The West facing opening is 30'wide and 15' 1" tall. If possible I'd like to maintain a 14' clearance so a semi truck can be pulled inside. The South facing opening is 13' wide and is approxametly 14' tall (has an I-beam header). Clearance may not be an option. If you'll eMail me I can send pictures.

51

I'm looking for a 12x14 bifold pole barn door and an 8x9 door for my barn that are more architectural and are insulated. Bifold or lifting doesn't matter but looks do.

52

Need a quote on 3- 48’ x 16’ bi-fold pole barn doors with straps and auto locks. These will mounted on wood (pole barn) structure. Also, I might be building this 50’ x 100’ x 16’ hangar With all steel, so what would be the difference for mounting on a steel structure? I have an existing 40’ x 12’ bifold with cables that I would like to convert to straps.

Just looking for a ball park number on cost for a Glass Bifold door with straps and backup system in case my power goes out. New Pole Barn Construction. Opening will be 14' wide by 12' high. Thanks.

54

I am interested in building my own bifold door for this project and buying a kit from you. The wood pole barn has posts every 8’ down the side. My opening would be 8’ tall and 39’-6” wide but would like to have a roller on each of the 4 middle posts in addition to the two ends. The thought is this could reduce the door structural requirements. Can you tell me what is in the bifold BYOD kit and the cost?

55

I have a pole barn that has a 24 x 14 door opening. It currently has a double slider doors on it. Building is only 40' wide, so when doors are fulling slide open, the stick past the building and that doesn't work so well when windy. Sliding door also blocks my service door when open. I'd like to see about installing a bi-fold liftstrap shop door as I don't want to lose any height with an overhead door. As far as the wood vs steel building, it is wood posts/trusses/framing, but metal sided. Thanks, Lee

56

Hello - We plan on building a metal pole barn on our property and would like to give it a hangar feeling, and match our "Modern Farmhouse". Could you provide a budget a 42' wide bifold door, both in traditional siding (or maybe the barn builder provides the siding) and a more contemporary glass looking finish (like a glass garage door seen at a bar, etc?) Hope that info makes sense. Thanks - Mike

64

70

Hello, I have an existing pole barn, it is 100'x 50' with 30' extension "wings", and I am wanting to eventually convert some of the space into a 60' x 50' enclosed aircraft hangar with a large hanger-type bifold strap door. I'm looking to get in contact with someone who could maybe help me with whether the structure I have currently would be able to support the weight of a large door and what kind of price I would be looking at for purchase and installation. Basically the opening I would like to fit the door in is 49' 1" wide and 14" 10' tall, the vertical poles seem to be 4 or 5 inch steel pipe, and the trusses are made from what appears to be 2-3 inch steel pipe. Would love to talk to someone who could tell me whether this is a feasible endeavor!

71

Have an existing pole barn, I'm thinking the one-piece hydraulic door would not lower the opening, however like the recessed version but realize that's going to lower my opening height, by about how much ?

77

Can you give me the best options for closing in my pole barn. I have a 40' x 14' opening but need to be able to open all the way, and I think a one-piece hydraulic door would be best for a hay squeeze and motorhome. Need ASAP

78

Do you have someone that can come look at my building and give me the best options for closing in my pole barn. I have a 40 x 14 opening but need to be able to open all the way for a hay squeeze and motorhome, so I was thinking of using a hydraulic barn door, but I'm not certain. Need ASAP

90

I am just looking at all options for a metal pole barn replacement door. Presently has a sliding door on it. I need to keep the height and as much width as possible. An overhead door will drop the door height down a foot. That won't work to pull my camper in. Someone mentioned for me to check into Schweiss hangar doors for no loss of head room. About 12 ft 10 inches wide and about 11 ft 7 inches tall is the door opening I need to have.

91

I would like information and pricing on 34x16 Schweiss liftstrap bifold door. This would go in an insulated pole shed building.

93

Hello I Am building a polebarn for an airplane hanger with a 65' x 16' bifold door, And the homeowner wants me to put in steel columns on the sides of the opening. Could someone email me and let me know what size we should go on that? Would a freestanding header work for this? Should we go with an I- beam or a steel tube? I will also have some more questions.

94

My building is in the planning stage. Need pricing and recommendations. I am looking at a 60X60 building of poll type construction. I marked the form for a 58' bifold Schweiss Liftstrap door, but that is just a guess at this point. Should I go full with of building? Thanks, Rob

95

I am eventually going to need 4 doors 20' wide x 14' high. I cannot spare any headroom. I would like to start with one door and see how well it works for me. The building is a 60x100 pole barn, recently concreted inside, with 14' of clearance. Unfortunately the doors cannot go on the gable end. (not enough room to road). Give me price on which ever door gives me most headroom

96

I have a pole barn that I would like. To put a door on and like the idea of a bifold size of opening is 25 wide by 18 high. Include patented lift straps, insulated, free standing header.

97

I have just finished building a pole barn. I am inquiring about a hanger style bi fold lift strap door. The size is approx 40 foot wide x 16 high. What would a ball park price be on something like this?

98

I have to quote a pole barn, 80' x200'x25', for boat storage, need to get a quote on 2- 40'x23' bifold liftstrap, or hydraulic doors, barn won't be heated, but I would like the doors at least lightly insulated and able to seal tight to keep all rodents out during the winter months. The job is near Rochester ,NY.

99

My pole barn has a homemade wooden bifold door that has been in place for 12 years but has reached the end of its useful life. It never really sealed properly but has otherwise been satisfactory. Before rebuilding this door I figured I might as well find out what it would cost to replace it with a factory built bifold or one piece door.My building has only a single end truss and no extra bracing but was designed with the 45'X 11'clearspan opening and has had no issues caused by the weight/stress of the present door.I am guessing that either of your doors will weigh more than my wooden door and I may need to modify my structure to accomodate your door. Which of your door systems would be most suitable for my building with the least amount of modification to the building itself? Please note that the dimensions I have supplied are approximate and I will supply exact dimensions if I proceed with the purchase. Your door looks 100 times sturdier than the old clunker I have on it now. Thanks.

Building was built this summer, has sliding doors now, don't ask me why, it should have been fitted with a bifold lift strap door. This is on a pole shed building, poles are set in white rock, there is no concrete in this building. Is the quote installed price? I also have a shop building with a 14 foot by 12 foot 4 inch height I am interested in putting your door in. It is an older wood building with steel siding. Has a foundation and floor is concreted. Do you know anybody who wants a sliding door, still in good condition?

101

Currently have end slide doors. Building is pole barn construction with metal sides and roof. Interested in your design for easy opening, sealing and height restrictions in other designs. This lousy, hard to open in the winter, sliding door will be used for a bonfire on Halloween, so please rush your order if at all possible. What other info do you want me to get to you?

102

We are looking at building a new pole barn on our farm. We are very interested in the Schweiss bifold style doors. Need info for the structural load and engineering data for building our building with your door. Also need prices on the doors. The end wall is going to be 40ft wide and 20 tall. We would like to do 2 18ft by 16ft doors if that is possible with these. If other doors (hydraulic) would be better please feel free to suggest that also. We do want these doors to be able to be remotely operated from inside equipment also. Appreciate any literature, suggestions, and data that you can send us. Thank you very much for your time and info.

105

We have a barn/hanger with a door opening of approximately 40 ft. wide x 16 ft high and would like to install a bifold hanger door if possible. The building is a pole barn structure with a heavy glue Lam beam header over the door opening. Questions: 1. Do you have a rep in our area who can check out our building to determine if such an installation is possible and what exact size we need? 2. Are their installers in our area who are experienced in installing your doors and who could install ours? 3. What would be the approximate cost of such a door with lift straps? Installation? 4. What exact information would you need to build us a door that will fit our building structure and opening? 5. What other questions should we have ask?? Appreciate you help. Thanks Wilson

Dear Sir, I'm planning to build a hanger this summer near Selah, Wa. I anticipate it will be a 60x60 building with a 40 ft opening. A couple of questions: Is there a standard sized door that would be less expensive then a custom designed one? What is the normal height of the door? The hanger will be a pole barn type building. What design considerations should I be thinking about to accomidate the door? Ball park estimate? Thanks, Randy

I have a customer that builds pole buildings. They are my largest and best customer and I need to take good care of them. The building is being quoted to an airport here locally. They typically try to use overhead doors in these situations but its not finacially viable in most cases. I don't have any more specs than what I've given you. The exterior will be covered with painted steel panels. It will be on a gable end and have wood framing. Could you please quote a motorized unit and give me anything besides the basic door as an option If you could fax shop drawings as well. I NEED THIS ASAP. Thanks, Dean D.

198

I am intersted in putting a new door in a old wood pole type building that we use as a shop it has sliding doors in i now. I think it will need a free standing header to make it work. The RO is 20.5 feet wide and 13 feet high there is about 4 feet above the door to the roof line on the outside edges. It would have to be fully insulated. Please send me andy info and some idea of pricing if you can.
