Lake Tahoe beachfront watercraft rental business calls for Schweiss Door

Schweiss Doors

South Tahoe Standup Paddle runs a busy operation renting out recreational watercraft for visitors. Their new 4,400 sq. ft. steel building with a 32 ft. 11" Schweiss Bifold liftstrap door has storage room for 120 paddleboards, 16 kayaks and six paddleboats.

Lake Tahoe Doors by Schweiss

Exterior cladding consisting of stained 2x6s that match the outside of the new building are evenly spaced to allow circulation of air into the storage building give it a nice designer look.

Schweiss boathouse doors have a reputation of showing up at some of the most beautiful lakes in America, but perhaps the most beautiful of them all is the 989 ft. deep Lake Tahoe which borders Nevada and California.

At the center of the city of South Lake Tahoe, just a couple of miles from Nevada, is El Dorado Beach at Lakeview Commons. This South Lake Tahoe beach with the Sierra Nevadas' jaw dropping vistas is popular with locals and visitors alike, the beach draws a large crowd who take advantage of the many activities available including a watercraft rental shop right on the beach.

A new 40x30 ft. steel building was erected for the South Tahoe Standup Paddle rental business. It's one of the busiest locations on the beach. It is here that visitors from all over come to rent standup paddleboards, kayaks and paddleboats. It is also where a custom made Schweiss 32 ft. 11.5" x 10 ft. 11.25" Bifold liftstrap door with electric photo eye sensors opens up that building for business. South Tahoe Standup Paddle is a primary source for SUP boards, accessories and rentals in Lake Tahoe. Founded in 2010 by the Brackett Family they've become Northern California and Nevada's premier flatwater standup paddle shop.

"The bifold door is running good, and during the summer it goes up and down every day. We have 120 paddleboards, 16 kayaks and six paddleboats to rent out," explained Chris Brackett. The exterior cladding on the door consists of stained 2x6s spaced apart to allow for air flow into the storage area when the door is closed.

Brackett said that El Dorado Beach was always a busy spot for locals, despite being just a hillside rundown beach in days past. But since the City of South Lake Tahoe initiated its Phase 1 redevelopment project there, he said the area has drawn more tourists and there are a lot of other special events that take place to bring people in.

Paddleboard Business has Schweiss Doors

The Pro Shop inside Standup Paddle's business carries an extensive line of paddleboards, clothing and other accessories.

The El Dorado Beach boat ramp is available to put your non motorized watercraft on the lake and is located on Highway 50 at Lakeview Avenue. The boat ramp is open seasonally depending on accessibility and the lake's water level. All motorized vessels may launch following invasive species seal inspection. There is also an adjoining bike trail. Picnickers can relax on a large lawn and enjoy the view. You will find a large picnic area with tables and barbeque pits for those who want to hang out near the beach. It's the perfect vacation spot.

To keep things exciting, South Tahoe Standup offers full-day, half-day and summer sunset tours, beginning at $100. All of our tours are guided by their knowledgeable and trained staff. Each tour is unique, from seeing a Bald Eagle, to checking out Emerald Bay or some of our secret spots at D.L. Bliss. Their professional staff provides lessons for individuals or groups.

They have a full line of boards, paddles and accessories from top brands and more. Whether you like to call it Standup Paddle, Paddleboarding or SUP, they have the perfect equipment for all ages and abilities and Lake Tahoe, stretching 22x12 miles has 39 trillion gallons of water to have fun on.

Lake Tahoe's Schweiss Doors is clad in Wood Slats

Standup paddle also referred to as SUP is very popular among visitors. South Tahoe Paddle has a professional staff that conducts tours on the lake and also provides lessons for firsttime paddleboarders. Lake Tahoe stretches for 22 miles and is 12 miles wide.

Clark & Sullivan Construction (C&S) of Sparks, Nevada completed the improvement project for the City of South Lake Tahoe at Lake Commons Beach in June of 2012. The $4.8 million Gold LEED beach improvement project included rehabilitation and site improvement construction of the existing city park along the shore of Lake Tahoe. This was a small but important project for them, their average size projects are $10 to $15 million and they do 10 to 20 projects each year.

"We requested proposals for this project in different public publications. Schweiss responded to our request," noted C&S Project Manager Doris Kelly. "The original drawings included an alternate add for Phase 2, I am not sure if they will do it, if they do put it out to bid, I am sure we will bid it."

The improvements at El Dorado Beach represent the largest lakefront public access site improvement investment by the Tahoe Conservancy in the south shore. The project incorporated significant public participation during its planning and design process. The lakefront beach is designed to be fully accessible for people of all abilities.

"Clark and Sullivan provided outstanding workmanship on this $5 million dollar public access project. It is not easy to work on the shoreline of Lake Tahoe, as environmental protection is paramount," said Jim Marino, capital improvements manager of the City of South Lake. "Clark and Sullivan placed the protection of Lake Tahoe as the project priority, not secondary as most contractors would. They were thorough, professional, and accommodating to the City's needs regarding schedule and access."The work that took place occupied 600 lineal feet of beachfront.

"El Dorado Beach Project was a challenging project because it was on the Lake Tahoe waterfront. There were a lot of requirements from the El Dorado County, Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency when working at the lake. It was also very important to the South Lake Tahoe community. We were successful and met their schedule and budget," said Kelly.

The project consisted of a beachfront amphitheater constructed of hand hewn stone, landscaping and architectural lighting. Work on the El Dorado Beach at Lakeside Commons also included construction of a 2,000 square foot restroom and concession building with solar panels and radiant heating panels along with site improvements including earthwork, landscaping, and the addition of paver and concrete retaining walls. The architect on the project was RHAA Landscape Architecture.

Schweiss Doors at Business on Lake Tahoe Beach

Founded in 2010 by the Brackett family, South Tahoe Standup Paddle's business is located close to the Lake Tahoe beach.

"We were pleased to take part on the construction of such a significant and much used recreational park along the shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe," said BJ Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Clark & Sullivan Construction. "This park is one of the most popular spots in the area and it is highly visible."

History of Clark & Sullivan

Clark & Sullivan was established in 1981 by Dave Clark & B.J. Sullivan. Although Dave has since retired from the company, the same ideals and philosophy that the company was founded on continue today.

Schweiss Door at Lake Tahoe is operated daily for most of the year

During spring, summer and fall months the South Tahoe Standup Paddle business is booming and the custom-made Schweiss Bifold door is used nearly everyday. It has a height of 10 ft. 11 1/4" with actual clear opening of 8 ft. 11 1/4". Chris Brackett points to the open door.

In 1994, Clark & Sullivan expanded to include an office in Las Vegas; in 2000 they expanded again to Sacramento, facilitating our operations in Northern California; and in 2012 they opened their newest office in Laramie, Wyoming where B.J. Sullivan was born and raised.

Based in Reno, Clark & Sullivan is a privately held Corporation with 75 full time, regular employees among four offices. Their history includes the construction of a wide variety of iconic projects that have helped build the west. They have earned a solid reputation as an industry leader and are well known throughout the west for completing quality projects on-time and within budget.

One such project called for the construction of three residential buildings containing more than one hundred vacation time share units. With a Sierra Nevada mountain setting and proximity to Heavenly Valley ski resort, these luxury units were designed and constructed with many high quality interior and exterior amenities requiring high standards of construction. The three structures consisted of one 48- unit eleven story building and two six story buildings all with parking garages. Clark & Sullivan placed great concern on soil conditions, seismic requirements, base rock restrictions, project noise and the high winds and harsh weather conditions expected at a mountainous 7,500 foot elevation. Their work there gained the praise of Harich Tahoe Developments President Ronald Wilhite who noted:

"You worked under adverse weather conditions, restricted access and our ongoing business activity without missing a beat to complete our project on time. Looking back at the whole project, constructing an eleven story building on the side of a mountain at 7,600 foot elevation with snow and winds to 80 mph is a credit to your organization. Our thanks to you for a difficult job well done!"

Their project experience includes the following: K-12 schools and higher education facilities, medical facilities, office Buildings, retail facilities, fire and police stations, convention and events centers, municipal buildings, correctional facilities, hotel and casinos, airport facilities and much more.
