Hi, I am a residential structural engineer working on shop specifications for a client who will be installing one of your bifold doors. I understand dimension C (overall height of door) is 14'-0" from finished floor to very top of the hinge. Are you able to provide a drawing of the hinges? I would like to understand where the center of the bolt hole is in relation to the top of the hinge, because i would like to determine where the top of my header needs to be in order to ensure proper edge distance from bolt to edge of header. I am detailing the building that one of your doors is being installed into, order #26563 for Egr Construction Inc. Is there any way I can get a total door depth for that order? I have a rigid frame rafter that passes through the required rough opening, but it is 9 1/2" behind the steel line. You show a 4" setback for the door itself but no dimension for the vertical sub-frame or the horizontal sub-frame for that matter. The existing structure is masonry, and we want as much side-to-side open width as possible (so sodewall or end wall?- steel tubes vs i beam vs wood?) We need min. 7'-0" vertical clearance, how tall would the opening need to be to accomodate that wedge? Depending on that, we would either have ceiling mounted or wall mounted mechanism. I have a 50 foot Schweiss bifold with remote system and 2 pulsar remote control. Anyway, I had not opened the door in a few months and both remotes quit working at the same time. I replaced/tested the batteries. Only 1 was bad. However, it still does not open. Can you tell me how I reset the main control box and reprogram if necessary ? Thank you. We are having an R&M steel bldg put up for a hangar, and purchased a 65 ft wide bifold from you. My concern is with the alignment required on the top hinges between the bifold door and bldg. The bldg design uses 11 stub columns. The forth stub column in from one side is approx one inch inside the line of the other ten stub columns. To me, this seems like a rather large amount to bend the door hinge line, and still have the door function normally and last for a reasonable time. What is the maximum out of alignment that you specify for the hinge line at the top of the bifold liftstrap/autolatch door?

Hello, For a university lab building on the northeast coast that we are currently working on, the architects are considering an all-glazed bifold liftstrap door by Schweiss for the lab entrance. The project is still in an early design phase, but we would like to account for the door and structural framings. This door will be interfacing with an aluminum framed storefront system. Knowing realistic dimensions for the bifold door assemblies including the structural framing would be very helpful. The opening is 14'6" tall by 15' 9" wide - would you be able to help us get the right dimensions for the door and the frame? Are there typical details with dimensions that we could refer to? I did see there are structural framing diagrams on the website (link attached below), but they did not have any dimensions that we could refer to. This is to be a refinement of bid #111407-RG. We have reverted to a Schweiss bifold liftstrap door concept and have finally drilled down to sizes and end dimensions. The building is partially completed with concrete side walls half way up at the door end. We will want a stainless steel side rails to bolt to the front of the concrete wall end and to the steel 6X6 tubes on top of the wall up to the roof support beam the door will hang on. The door needs to be designed for 140 mph wind. We want man doors on both the left and right sides. We want a center latch on the bottom and side latches on both the left and right sides, but with a concrete wall up to 7'- 10" on either side that will require some thinking as we want the full opening width to be clear below 8'. Thus the side latches pretty much have to be above 8'. We want to maximize clear opening height, and would prefer that to be at 11'- 10" above the floor if that is practical. The door parts need to fit into a 40' container or a 40' hi-cube container.

Hi. About a month ago one of my clients sent the requirements for a Schweiss bifold door, so you could send him the preliminary specifications. The original door was going to be 23.80m wide, 5.56m high. But with the final modifications, the door ended up being 23.88m. Just about 3 inches more. Attached are the bifold door specs. And some pictures of the opening ready for the door. Also one photo of the last door installed you provided. The opening is the same as the last one. I did take some measurements of the existing door. And have the siding on hand as to that size.The door is 48'-1 3/4" in width not counting the rollers. The new one could be 1" wider. Making it 48'-2 3/4" The height of each half is 95 1/2" not including the hinges. I have prepared the new opening to match the last door at the header. As per the hinge height. I have 5 1/2" above the bottom of the header truss to hang the door. Since we talked last week I did look at the automatic door latches on your web site. I would like to figure them in. The quantity for the requested bifold door quote should be for one 8 ft High x 14 ft Wide door. Is there an installation close to the DC area, the client wishes to see an installation and function. The drawings do not indicate operation of door are there winches, pulleys, and motor location. the opening is an extension of concrete walls hence concrete jambs, overhead is a LVL structural beam 10" vert. x 18" horz. and with steel angles at its bottom edges, the gateway into the court yard.

Hello, I will be building a hangar in Spokane WA. It will be 50x50x14 pole building. The rough opening is planned to be 48' 9-15/16" wide by 14'. At this point the trusses are regular 2x6 truss with a single truss on the gable open end. Should I do double truss? Appreciate any advice and quote on both bifold and hydraulic door. I am looking for design information on your Bifold doors, specifically what the overall door height is in relationship to the opening clear height. I understand that it varies depending on the door height, but I was wondering if there is some "rule of thumb" for calculating the ratio. I need to find out the dimensions of your door to see if it will work for my project. There is an existing tilt wall warehouse with 19.5' to the underside of the bar joists. I need a door with a clear opening of 18' x 18' minumum. I can't find on your website any dimensions that will tell me what I need to know. PS: the door will only be used to move very large equipment in, then out when testing is done. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

We are a building Rep and G.C. and putting a Aviation Hangar together and need some information on the Free Standing Header system for our Bi-Fold door package. We are looking for a system that will have the least load on the building. I need (4) 60' wide openings on the Sidewall of a building, that we need to keep the overall length to a minimum. I also need to know what the minimum distance should be between the doors. There must be (4) 60' wide and 20' high doors on both the front and back sidewalls for a total of (8) doors. The building will be 120' wide--- so my minimum length must be? Please let me know what the load calculations would be so we know how to figure this into our buildings engineering.
