We have a hangar with two mechanically operated swing out doors. We need some solutions for sealing around the doors.

Current installation is a conventional industrial roll-up door mounted on the inside of the wall. We are seeking a new door design that can be well sealed and heavilly insulated. The construction of the wall is split face cinder block on the vertical sides, smooth cinder block across top. A wall detail is available. The concrete floor is flat up to the edge of the wall, then it slopes down and away from the building.

I am interested in a hydraulic one piece door for a shop in-the-clear opening of 16 feet high by 30 feet wide. This opening has northern exposure, opens into a heated shop with a concrete floor with about two inches of concrete above the gravel grade that leads into the shop. The building is wooden laminated column and the current 16 H x 15.5 duel sliding doors are clear span supported by a track on the front of the building. I am interested in better sealing of the door opening and the possibilities of insulation that you offer for this type of a door. I am retired and farming a small farm, but I do spend a lot of time in the shop and need better air infiltration control. This is an inquiry only at this point. I am looking at Hangar doors which I will build the Hangar around. Bi-Fold doors are interesting, not pretty but cost effective. Living in Alaska, heating is critical, your doors can be insulated but what about the seals when the doors are closed? How much insulation can be placed on the doors? Sprayed urea? We recently installed a 36' bi-fold with straps, autolatches, interior truss version of your door. We have it sheeted outside and are using it. We were wondering if we can insulate the door with spray-on foam inside, and if there is anything you have can tell us about doing this on your door. The building is going to be heated. We design and manufacture dryers and kilns, primarily for the ceramic industry. Currently, we have a project to supply a large dryer for a customer that will require two (2) doors, each approximately 16' wide x 8' high. The doors would be exposed to temperatures as high as 400 deg. F on the interior, so they will need to be insulated. We can install the appropriate insulation, as long as the doors are designed to accommodate it. I would prefer bi-fold style doors, but am open to any style. Please give me your comments.
