Schweiss glass bifold door goes on exclusive
New York Lexington Avenue hotel
The new Club Quarters Grand Central Hotel in New York City on Lexington Avenue had a 8 ft. 10" x 14 ft/ 8.5" tall Schweiss Bifold liftstrap glass door with electric photo eye sensors placed on one of its entrances.
The Club Quarters Grand Central Hotel was newly opened in the fall of 2013 and caters primarily to business and corporate clientele. A room at the hotel is "reasonably" priced for downtown New York City at about $225 a night.
Schweiss designer doors have gone on numerous exclusive hotels stretching from China to Europe. The latest to join this elite group is the Club Quarters Grand Central Hotel on Lexington Avenue, downtown New York City.
The Club Quarters is private. Only hotel guests are allowed to enter the historic 302-room landmark building. However, when the Club Quarters has excess capacity, it welcomes other guests. Club Quarters, of which there are five different locations, are full service hotels designed for business travelers offering a full range of accommodations in a club-like atmosphere. This Grand Central location has been open since the fall of 2013, so it's brand spankin' new.
Located on the corner of Lexington Avenue and 128 East 45th St., Club Quarters Grand Central is close to Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Also nearby are United Nations Headquarters and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Lexington Avenue which opened in 1832 was named after the Battle of Lexington in the Revolutionary War. In 1899 it would see the first arrest in New York for speeding, when a bicycle patrolman overtook a cabdriver who had been racing down the avenue at the "reckless" speed of 12 mph.
When you reflect on this premier midtown location with many of these sites within walking distance in New York City, the cost of about $225 a night is considered a reasonable price for a room. An exclusive hotel of this sort had an architect's recommendation for a custom-made Schweiss Bifold Liftstrap glass door. Although, not very big at 8 ft. 10" with a height of 14 ft 81/2", nonetheless, as you might expect, it is a very attractive door.
The general contractor for this project was Rob Marsh of Advanced Door Sales, a family-owned business established in 1998 based out of Franklin, New Jersey.
Over the years Advanced Door Sales has gone through some growing pains. "We started out with the standard commercial and residential garage doors, but very quickly added a complete line of high speed doors, rolling steel doors, refrigerated doors, sliding doors and loading dock equipment," said Marsh.
Overlooking Lexington Avenue from the Chrysler Building, the Club Quarters Hotel is located in the heart of downtown New York City near such landmarks as Grand Central Station, Times Square and the United Nations Headquarters.
His first experience with a Schweiss Door was about 20 years ago when he worked for another company. The bulk of his business is commercial, about 80 percent, with the rest in residential. He attributes much of his success to word of mouth advertising, which he says is the best advertising anyone can have.
"This door on Lexington Avenue on the Club Quarters hotel is eventually going to be used for a client waiting room," explained Marsh. "The door was built nicely, the liftstraps work very well and are very quiet. They were very excited to see the door open and close when we completed our portion of the installation."
He added that the door was delivered without incident and working with the Schweiss Door factory personnel was great.
